BUSINESS MANAGER

Position: Business Manager

Reports to: Executive Director

 

Position is responsible for assuring financial accuracy with respect to accounts payable/receivable, payroll and all cash transactions as well as assurance that all business related matters are handled in a timely and professional manner.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Accountant duties: bill pay, invoicing, revenue tracking reporting, client specific accounting and reporting.

  • Develops departmental policies, procedures, and systems.

  • Develops and monitors departmental goals and targets.

  • Prepares and oversees department budget and controls expenditure of funds in budget.

  • Educates Members regarding company policies and procedures.

  • Manages company policies, procedures, and targets relating to finance/accounting.

  • Supervises and participates in the preparation of various financial statements and reports.

  • Manages and participates in cost analyses and rate studies.

  • Manages internal audits involving review of accounting and administrative controls.

  • Prepares statements and reports of estimated future costs and revenues.

  • Reviews financial statements with management personnel.

  • Reconciles quietus report with Reports of Collections on a monthly basis.

  • Orders office supplies on a weekly basis or less.

  • Maintains at least $500 postage in mail meter.

  • Coordinates preparation of external audit materials and external financial reporting.

  • Reviews invoices prior to making payments for services. Posts payments. Deposits payments.

  • Updates revenue enhancement and submit to City Collections monthly.

  • Pickups for vendor checks, work release refund checks and employee paychecks when they are available.

  • Completes the MBE/WBE report on a monthly basis.

  • Assists with retrieving paperwork from Court when needed.

  • Assists with the Intake Unit when needed.

  • Submits appropriate paperwork to Auditor's Office for payments.

  • Creates requisitions and purchase orders.

  • Assists with reception window duties when needed.

Qualifications:

  • Excellent communication skills; both written and verbal

  • High School Diploma (or equivalent), two (2) to three (3) years of accounting experience including two (2) years of governmental accounting and one year of experience in a supervisory role.

  • Ability to meet tight deadlines under minimal supervision

  • Strong sense of discretion and confidentiality required

  • Current 2 Step TB test clearance and pass background check.
