Horizons Academy of Maui is seeking Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs) who enjoy having fun with kids and adults with special needs while delivering academic instruction or training functional living, communication or social skills.

 

Position Title: Registered Behavior Technician (RBT)

 

Qualifications:

-MUST BE A CREDENTIALED RBT 

-Be at least 18 years of age

-Clear federal and state background checks

-Have a current and valid Hawaii Driver’s License 

-Have reliable transportation and be willing and able to travel between different job sites

-Provide a current vehicle registration, safety check certificate and state required vehicle insurance

-Have current 2-Step TB clearance.

-Acquire prior to working with participants and maintain: in-person CPR and First Aid Certification, Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) Certification

-Maintain a working email and phone number

-Lift up to 50 pounds

-Bend, crawl, jump, kneel, lift, push, pull, run etc

-Use electronic devices for data collection platforms

-Detect by sight and sound unsafe/crisis situations and move quickly to intervene in unsafe/crisis situations

-Assist participants with hygiene routines including toileting (change diapers and/or wet soiled clothing) and bathing if applicable

-Maintain emotional stamina (stability and maturity) to work productively and optimistically for the length of the scheduled work day

-Communicate effectively and politely to participants and their families, co-workers, supervisors and other stakeholders
 

Education:

-Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college in Psychology, Special Education or a related field preferred

-Or Associate’s degree or completion of a minimum of 48 college credits including ENG 100 and MATH 100

-Or successful completion of Parapro Assessment (score of at least 459) 

-High School Diploma or equivalent is required

 

Experience:

-Two years experience with behavioral supports, evaluation and services for people with developmental disabilities preferred

-One year experience working with adults or children with special needs required

 

Compensation:

-Based upon education and experience. 

-The current starting hourly rate for RBT is $19.50
